Step-by-step explanation:

(1) given: length is 5 times the width

let, length= x, then width= 5(x)=5x

perimeter of rectangle formula: 2(l+b)

where, l=length, b=width

perimeter given= 96m

so, by substituting the values in the formula....

2(x+5x)= 96

2(6x)= 96m

12x=96m

so, x= 96/12= 8

so, x=8

then, length= x= 8m

width= 5(x)= 5(8)= 40m

(2) total no. of students= 42

no. of girls= 2/5th of boys

so, let no. of boys= x

then no. of girls= 2x/5

by adding,

x+2x/5= 42

7x/5= 42

so, 7x= 210

x= 210/7= 30

x=30

so, no. of boys= x= 30 members

no. of girls= 2(30)/5= 12 members

hope it helps you!
