Answer :

y = x - 4 \\ y = 4x - 10

So,

x - 4 = 4x - 10 \\  \\ x - 4x =  - 10 + 4 \\  \\  - 3x =  - 6 \\  \\ x =  \frac{6}{3}  = 2

Put the value of x in (i)

y = x - 4 \\  \\ y = 2 - 4 \\  \\ y =  - 2

Therefore, x = 2, y = - 2
