Options A and B, the Chinese lost control of Hong Kong, they were forced to expand ports for trade, follows.

Throughout the 18th and the 19th century, the British government continued to export opium to China. Britain exported the opium planted in India to the china. as the demand for Chinese products  (tea, pot-tery, silk etc.)  Grew in Europe, so Europe had to pay a large amount of money to China. Despite the ban, East India Company continued its trade for opium to resolve the chronic trade imbalance. There-fore, the East India Company appointed the Country traders to sell the opium to the dealers along the coast of China. It made a disturbed environment for Chinese states. But Britain during this time was ready to define "free trade", these circumstances led to the Opium war of China with the British. China was defeated by the British in the Opium Wars. Thereafter China had to sign the humiliating trade trea-ty that ceded Hong Kong to the British and had to open its ports to trade with foreigners.
