Given :- (from image.)

  • In ∆LMN , ∠M = 90° .
  • ∠L = θ .
  • LM = 12 .
  • MN = 5 .

To Find :-

  • cos θ = ?

Solution :-

In Right angled ∆LMN, we have,

→ LN = √(LM² + MN²) { By pythagoras theorem. }

→ LN = √(12² + 5²)

→ LN = √(144 + 25)

→ LN = √(169)

→ LN = √(13)²

→ LN = 13 .

then,

→ cos θ = Base / Hypotenuse .

→ cos θ = LM / LN

→ cos θ = (12 / 13) (B) (Ans.)
