Wonderful Question. Thanks for the question.
Answers ⇒
(a). Zinc metal.
To prevent the Iron from the Rusting, zinc sheets are applied on the iron. This process of applying zinc in Iron is called as the Galvanization.
Zinc is the more Reactive than the Iron thus it do not favors the iron to loss the electrons(Zinc itself get oxidized).
(b). Oxidation.
The process of the loss of the Electrons is called as the Oxidation.
When Ferrous is converted into Ferric ions there is he loss of the One electron. Hence it is the Oxidation .
Reaction for this is ⇒ Fe²⁺ + e⁻ --------→ Fe³⁺ (Oxidation).
(c). Electrolysis of Water.
When the Electric current is added to the acidulated water (mixed with Sulphuric acid as it is non volatile), the electrolysis of the water takes place in which the Hydrogen gas is evolved at the Cathode and the Oxygen gas is evolved at the Anode.
Electrolytic Ionization Reaction ⇒ H₂O --------→ H⁺ + OH⁻
Reaction at Cathode ⇒ H⁺ + e⁻ ----------→ H
H + H -----→ H₂
Reaction at the Anode ⇒ 4OH⁻ ----------→ 2H₂O + O₂
(d). Double Displacement.
Addition of the Aqueous solution of the ZnSO₄ to an aqueous solution of BaCl₂ produces ZnCl₂ and BaSO₄. Reaction for that is ⇒
BaSO₄ + ZnCl₂ ------------→ BaCl₂ + ZnSO₄
In this reaction the positive and the negative charges of the compounds are interchanged and the new products with different radicals are formed. Such reaction is called as the Double decomposition.
Hope it helps.
