Answer:    x = 3 ; y = 1

Step-by-step explanation:

let, 2x + y = 7 -------(i)

and, 3x - 4y = 5 --------(ii)

on multiplying (i) by 4, we get ->

8x + 4y = 28 -------(iii)

on adding equations (ii) and (iii),

[8x + 4y = 28]

[3x - 4y = 5]

11x = 33        [+4y and -4y cancel each other out, i.e. get eliminated]

or, x = 3

on substituting the value of x in equation (i),

we get ->

2(3) + y =7

6 + y = 7

or, y = 7-6 = 1

thus, x = 3, and, y = 1 (answer)
