Any diameter of a circle subtends a right angle to any point on the circle. No matter where the point is, the triangle formed with diameter is always a right triangle.

A right triangle inscribed in a circle must have its hypotenuse as the diameter of the circle.

The reverse is also true: if the diameter of the circle is also the triangle’s side, then that triangle is a right triangle.

Thales's theorem: if AC is a diameter, then the angle at B is a right angle.
