Endomitosis: It is the process of duplication of chromosomes but is not followed by nuclear division. It can be seen in insects, for example the salivary glands of Drosophila. In these cells, the chromosomes are usually large, synapsed and closely knitted.

Whereas, mitosis  is the process of cell division, in which the parent cell divides into two daughter cells which is followed by nuclear division. It occurs in eukaryotic cells.

Chromosome duplication without nuclear division refers to ENDOMITOSIS.

Reason for the answer: The replication of chromosomes in the absence of the cell or nuclear division which resulting in numerous copies within each cell occurs notably in the salivary glands of Drosophila and other flies. Cells in these tissues contain giant chromosome each consisting of over a thousand intimately associated chromatids.
