Circuits consisting of just one battery and one load resistance are very simple to analyze, but they are not often found in practical applications. Usually, we find circuits where more than two components are connected together in different combinations. These combinations of resistors put the limit on the current that flow through the circuit. After performing the experiments using two different types of circuit arrangements, the following observations were made by them and find the resistance using Ohms law.

(a) From observation, which combination represents series and parallel combination of the resistor R1 and R2?

(b) You will plot V Vs I for each of the four circuits on one graph. What value should each slope have? (Note: I on X-axis and V on Y-axis)

(c) Note that the measured currents across each resistor in parallel circuit were not the same. Which resistor had the larger current going through it? Why?

(d) Do you think the bulbs in the parallel circuit or the series circuit will burn brighter?

(e) Write two advantages of connecting devices in parallel than connecting them in series

Advantages of connecting electrical devices in parallel with the battery are as follows: The voltage across each electrical device is the same and the device can take current as per its resistance. Separate on/off switches can be applied across each device.

R2 has larger resistance due to its high magnitude.

Ohm Law:

  • Ohm’s law states the connection 'tween energetic current and potential dissimilarity. The current that flows through most leaders is straightforwardly equivalent to the service used to it.
  • Georg Simon Ohm, a German researcher was the first to confirm Ohm’s standard tentatively.Ohms society replies that the current running through the leader is straightforwardly equivalent to the potential distinctness across allure limits because the hotness and additional material environments are nonstop.
  • Formula of Ohm’s LawOhms society recipe is connected asV=IRWhereVoltage is V and is calculated in Volts,The current gushing through the leader is I and it presented in amperes, the opposition is R and is calculated in ohmsOhm’s standard recipe (potential distinctness rule) is fashioned use of to reckon the Resistance, Current, and Voltage in some likely revolution if one two together quantities are likely.
