Given,

  • A circular pond of diameter 4 m.

We have to find,

  • Metres of fencing required leaving 1 m from the edge.

It is clear that we won't fence in the pond but around the pound, which means we have to find the circumference of the circular pond.

Since we have to find the circumference of a circular region, So circumference of circle,

⇒ Circumference = 2πr

⇒ Circumference = 2 × 3.14 × 4/2

⇒ Circumference = 4 × 3.14

Circumference = 12.56 m

But, we have to exclude 1 m,

⇒ Required fencing = 12.56 - 1

Required fencing = 11.56

Hence, 11.56 metres are to be fenced around the circular pond.

Some Information :-

  • Area of a circle = πr²
  • A tangent is a line passing through one point on the circumference and is perpendicular to the radius to that point.

In geometry, the circumference is the perimeter of a circle or ellipse. That is, the circumference would be the arc length of the circle, as if it were opened up and straightened out to a line segment. More generally, the perimeter is the curve length around any closed figure.

{\bigstar}\large{\boxed{\sf{\pink{Diameter}}}}

In geometry, a diameter of a circle is any straight line segment that passes through the center of the circle and whose endpoints lie on the circle. It can also be defined as the longest chord of the circle. Both definitions are also valid for the diameter of a sphere.
