We know that r = d/2 (or) d = 2r. Given circumference of a circle exceeds diameter by 120cm. = 28.

Let the diameter = D

But Diameter = 2 × radius = 2r

Given that Circumference = D + 120

= 2r + 120

Circumference of a circle = 2πr

2r + 120 = 2πr

2r + 120 = 2 × 22 × r

7

7(2r + 120) = 44 r

14r + 840 = 44r

44r - 14r = 840

30r = 840

r = 840/30

r = 28

Diameter = 2 × 28 = 56 cms

Circumference = D + 120 = 176 cms
