For example - you take a spoon and stand on other side of the railing in your garden and ask you other friend to stand on the other side putting his hand on railing .Now strike it with a appon and ask your friend that did he heard a sound? Yes . This is because here medium of sound is solid or railing. In space there is absence of air and you cannot hear other person sound because there is a lack of medium

heya...

here is your answer...

LET US TAKE AN EXAMPLE OF BELL JAR EXPERIMENT...

TAKE AN ELECTRIC BELL IRTIGHT GLASS BELL JAR.
THE ELECTRIC BELL IS SUSPENDED INSIDE THE BELL JAR

CONNECT THAT BELL JAR TO A VACCUM PUMP AND NOW PRESS THE SWITCH

YOU WILL BE ABLE TO HEAR THE SOUND OF BELL

NOW START THE VACCUM PUMP. WHEN THE AIR IN THE JAR IS PUMPED OUT GRADUALLY, THE SOUND BECOMES FAINTER....ALTHOUGH THE SAME CURRENT IS PASSING THROUGH THE BELLNJAR

AFTER SOME TIME LESS AIR WILL BE AVAILABLE THERE SO YOU WILL HEAR FEEBLE SOUND

AND IF AIR IS REMOVED COMPLETELY WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO LISTEN ANY SOUND..

THIS EXPERIMENT SHOWS THAT SOUND NEED A MEDIUMTO TRAVEL

HOPE HELPED..
