Citrus originated in South East Asia. North East region of India is the home of some citrus species e.g. mandarins. Nagpur Sangtra is grown on a large scale in the Vidharbha region of central India. Similarly in Assam, Brahmaputra Valley and Dibrugarh district are famous for mandarin production.
