there are many experiments,but u can use this first rang a bell anywhere in air,then rang it inside water again repeat it in air but this time place a glass rod near it at one end and other end at your ears,u can get the idea that sound travel fastest in solid,slower in liquid and slowest in air, then for the last experiment place any vibrating body at vacuum,u can feel that vibrations cannot reach u,its bcz vibration of produced by objects makes the surrounding particles to vibrate at the same time,which penetrates as uniform waves and when reaches us gives us a sensation of hearing which is also called sound waves,this vibrations determines every property of the sound
