Answer:

Mode = 28

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given with the following data;

       Class Interval                  f

             0 - 10                          20

            10 - 20                         24

            20 - 30                         40

            30 - 40                         36

            40 - 50                         20

Firstly from the above data we observe that the highest frequency is 40 and the class interval corresponding to this is 20 - 30;                                                         So the modal class is 20 - 30.

Now, formula for calculating mode is given by;

             Mode = x_L + \frac{f_m - f_m_-_1}{(f_m - f_m_-_1)+(f_m -f_m_+_1)} *i

 where,    x_L   = Lower limit of modal class.

                f_m   = Frequency of modal class.

               f_m_-_1  = Frequency just before the frequency of modal class.

               f_m_+_1   = Frequency just after the frequency of modal class.

                     i  =  width of class interval

        Mode = 20 + \frac{40 - 24}{(40 - 24)+(40 -36)} *10 = 28 .

Hence, mode of the following frequency distribution is 28 .
