Information about epithelial tissue are as follows:-

1. The word epithelium has been broken into epi - upon and thelia - nipple . That is the tissue that grows upon another tissue.

2. The cells of epithelial tissue are closely packed and has less intercellular matrix.

3. It has less intercellular matrix due to lack of blood vessels, lymph vessels and capillaries.

4. In rests upon the underlying connective tissue and the cells obtain their nutrients from the connective tissues.

5. During the embryonic development the epithelial tissue develops first.

6. Regeneration Rate is very high in these tissues.

7. This tissue has a free space, which faces either a body fluid or the outside environment and provides a covering over the body surface.
