1) Sinhalas were holding the majority in Srilanka and thus they were enjoying the rule of majoritarianism. Under this rule, a majority community can rule the country in which ever way it wants by disregarding the minority in the government.

The three majoritarianism in Srilanka are as follows:

* Sinhala language was officially approved as the national

language and tamil language was been denied.

* Sinhalas were given first preference for taking part in educarional and job facilities.

* Srilankan religion, Buddhism was preached.

2. Main features of federalism are given below:

* Administration of subjects which are of national importance and needed uniformity in administration are given in the hands of the central government, while the subjects of local importance are given to the hands of state administration.

* Both of these governments enjoy their powers

independently.

* The federal system has dual objectives. 1 To safe guard and promote unity of the country. 2 while at the same time acoomodate regional diversity.

3. A democratic government is a better government because it is a more accountable form of government. Democracy improves the quality of Decision Making. Inculcates people with the government.

4. Coming together is a federation that comes into existence where several independent states come together to form a union. Eg., USA, Australia.etc.

Holding together is a federation that divides power between the constituent states and the national government. Eg., India, Belgium and Spain.

* Mass communication- Newspaper, Radio, television.

* Personal communication -
