Let the broken part be hypotenuse, the remaining part be perpendicular and the distance from the bottom of tree to the point where the top of the broken part touches be base.

Then the angle formed between the base and broken part will be of 30 degree.

Now we know, Tan A = perpendicular/base

So, Tan 30 = 1/√3 = p/b

Here, According to question we know that base is 8 metres

On solving we get, p= 8√3 metres.

As we assumed perpendicular, the height of the remaining part (not broken), So the height is 8√3 metres.
