Answer:

When dirty clothes are soaked in soap Solution, soap micelles containing the oily dirty at the centre are formed. In these micelles., soap is attracted both by the oily dirt and water. As a result, the surface tension of water decreases and a stable emulsion of oil in water is formed. To wash away the loosened dirt particle in form of micelles from the surface of the cloth, it either scrubbed mechanically or beaten on a stone or with a paddle or agitated in washing machine

Answer:

Soap lowers the surface tension of water .the long chain non-ionic hydrocarbons groups in soap gets attached to the oil and grease droppers and loosens them from the fibres of the cloth along with dirt. however the Loosening is insufficient to remove the grease with dirt completely .hence the clothes are agitated to remove the grease droplets completely.
