Describe the technological and institutional reforms made in the field of agriculture in India.

A number of technological and institutional reforms have taken place in the field of agriculture in India. Some of them are as follows:-
1.)In the 1950s, the Government of India introduces some institutional reforms. These included abolition of zamindari and collectivisation. The Land Reform was the main focus of the first Five Year Plan. The Right of Inheritance had already reduced the size of land holdings.
Although, the laws were made, yet, their implementation remained lukewarm.
2.) So, in the 1960s and 1970s, the Government of India introduced some technical reforms. These included the Green Revoltion which included the use of packaged technology and the White Revolution ( Operation Flood). However, these too lead to the development of few places.
3) Then, in 1980s and 1990s, the government of India decided to launch a coherrent programme including both technological and institutional reforms. Kisan Credit Card and Personal Accident Insurance Scheme were launched. Farmers were given insurance against droughts, floods and such natural calamities. The Government established weather bulletins. It also announced the Minimum Support Price for the farmers.
