Launcelot is Shylock's servant. He has a grudge against the Jew( Shylock) because he feels that he has grown very weak under Shylock.

In Act 2, Scene 2, Launcelot tells his father

"I am famished in his service."

Launcelot also tells him, in a rather funny manner, that his ribs can be counted using a finger. This suggests that either Launcelot gets paid very little and cannot afford to buy good nutritious food or that the Jew does not give him enough to eat or both.

Later, he aptly tells Bassanio that Shylock has enough ( money), but Bassanio has the 'grace of God', meaning Shylock is wealthy, but not giving, while Bassanio is not rich, but is large-hearted.

In any case, Launcelot is not happy with Shylock as his master and soon leaves Shylock's service to serve Bassanio.
