Answer: x = 10

               y = 2

Step-by-step explanation:

let 1/x-y = a  ;  1/x+y = b

32a + 36b = 7   × 5

40a + 48b = 9   × 4

160a + 180b = 35

160a + 192b = 36

______________

             12b  = 1

                 b = 1/12

Substituting

160a + 180(1/12) = 35

                  160a  =  20

                          a = 20/180

                           a = 1/8

1/x-y = 1/8

x - y = 8

x + y = 12

________

     2x = 20

        x = 10

x - y = 8

10 - y = 8

      y = 2
