Euclid's division lemma:
- For given positive integers, let a and b there exist whole numbers q and r satisfying a = bq + r where 0 r < b.
Euclid's division algorithm:
- Algorithm refers to some kind of steps.
- Hence, Euclid's division algorithm refers to the steps we perform to compute the HCF of two positive integers by using Euclid's division lemma.
Fundamental theoram of Arithmetic:
- Every composite number can be expressed or factorised as the product of primes and this factorisation is unique.
- Keep in mind that, Except their order in which prime factors occurs.
Other small concepts and statements:
- Let a be any positive integer and p be a prime number such that p | a², then p | a (It means, a² is divisible by p means a is also divisible by p)
- Rational numbers have either terminating or non terminating recurring decimal expansion.
- Check whether a rational number terminates or not: Let x be any rational number which can be expressed in p/q form. Then, prime factorisation of q must be in the form
- It will terminate after k decimal places where k is the larger among m and n.
