Question :-

2 cubes each of volume 64 cm³ are joined end to end. Find the surface area of the resulting cuboid.

Given,

Volume of each cube = 64 cm³

Now,

Let the edges of both cubes be 'a'

Thus,

Volume of cube = a^{3}

a^{3}=64

=>a=\sqrt[3]{64}

=>a=4

Edge of cube = 4 cm

Both cubes are joined together hence,

Length of cuboid = 8 cm

Breadth of cuboid = 4 cm

Height of cuboid = 4 cm

Surface Area :-

The surface area of cuboid = 2 (length × breadth + height × breadth + height × length)

= 2(8 × 4+4 × 4+4 × 8)

= 2(32+16+32)

= 2(48+32)

= 2 × 80

= 160

Hence,

The surface area of the cuboid is 160 cm^{2}.
