Question :-

2 cubes each of volume 64 cm³ are joined end to end. Find the surface area of the resulting cuboid.

Given,

Volume of each cube = 64 cm³

Now,

Let the edges of both cubes be '$a$'

Thus,

Volume of cube = $a^{3}$

$a^{3}=64$

$=>a=\sqrt[3]{64}$

$=>a=4$

Edge of cube = 4 cm

Both cubes are joined together hence,

Length of cuboid = 8 cm

Breadth of cuboid = 4 cm

Height of cuboid = 4 cm

Surface Area :-

The surface area of cuboid = 2 (length × breadth + height × breadth + height × length)

= $2(8$ × $4+4$ × $4+4$ × $8)$

= $2(32+16+32)$

= $2(48+32)$

= $2$ × $80$

= $160$

Hence,

The surface area of the cuboid is $160$ $cm^{2}$.
