Answer :

Three identical resistors are connected with a bettery of 2V as shown in the figure.

We have to find current flow in 4Ω resistor.

As per ohm's law, Current flow through resistor is directly proportional to the applied potential difference.

We know that, Current flow through each resister remains same in series connection.

◈ First we have to find equivalent resistance of circuit :

➝ Req = R¹R²/(R¹+R²) + R³

➝ Req = (8×8)/(8+8) + 4

➝ Req = 64/16 + 4

➝ Req = 4 + 4

Req = 8Ω

Current flow in circuit :

➝ V = I × Req

➝ 2 = I × 8

➝ I = 2/8

I = 0.25A

Current flow through 4Ω resistor = 0.25A

Given ,

  • The parrallel combination of 8 ohm and 8 ohm is in series with 4 ohm

  • Potential difference (v) = 2 v

Thus , the equivalent resistance of 8 ohm and 8 ohm will be

1/R' = 1/8 + 1/8

1/R' = 2/8

R' = 4 ohm ,

Now , R' form a series combination with 4 ohm

Thus , the total resistance of the circuit

R = 4 + 4 = 8 ohm

 \therefore The current through 4 ohm resistor will be

I = 2/8

I = 0.25 amp

Therefore ,

The current through 4 ohm resistor is 0.25 ohm
