The excerpt “We are not afraid to die, if we can all be together ” is a journal of Gordon Cook’s journey around the world with his family and crew mates. The Cook family trains and practice for years, improving and testing their sea faring skills in domestic waters. Well trained and ready, they set off to sail around the world following the path of James Cook. They have an easy time for a while but soon worsens and the ship is damaged to the condition that it could not last for long. It continues to show how much the captain worked hard, his wife Mary stayed at the wheel for crucial hours and his crewmen cooperated well and reached safely to an island. This excerpt proves hard work and determination always bears fruit. It also shows the sacrifice the kids made by not worrying their parents about their injuries and their love and trust for the captain. Together they make it alive and they were not afraid to die if they could all be together.
