NATURALISTIC OBSERVATION

1) when observations are made under natural or real life settings it is called naturalistic observation.

2) the observer does not have to make any effort to control or manipulate the situation, in order to make an observation.

3) these types of observations are made in schools, hospitals, malls, homes, etc.

merits and demerits of this method:(pg 29...paragraph before experimental method):

1) the advantage of this method is that it enables the researcher to study people and their behavior in a naturalistic situation, as it occurs.

2) however, this method is labour intensive , time consuming, and susceptible to be observer's bias.

3) because of our biases we may interpret things in a different way than what the participants actually mean.
