Rattrap Summary is about a man who is a trader. He has a neglected attitude towards the world. The trader has not always been like this and was a good man before. But due to bad luck, he now resorts to selling rat traps, begging and even stealing to survive. Besides, he sees the world as a big rat trap. He believes that like cheese given to mice, the world offers us materialistic things to entice us. So when we fall in love with these things, it traps us and takes everything away from us. In this story, a generous young woman takes in a rat trap seller. Thus, his generosity and kindness change his pessimistic outlook on life. This story teaches us an essential human goodness that we all must possess. The theme of the story is that most people tend to fall into the trap of material gain. But there is an essential goodness in every person that can be awakened through understanding and love. Man has a tendency to redeem himself in dishonest ways. The metaphor of a rat trap is used to develop the theme. The rat trap salesman calls the world a big rat trap. Material goods like riches and joys, shelter and food warmth and clothing are lures that lure a person into the world's rat trap, just as cheese and pork lure a rat into a rat trap. If someone takes the bait, the world closes to them and then everything is out of hand. The merchant is tempted by the thirty crowns of the old chronicle. He steals money. Now he is afraid of being caught and moves through the forest. It is Edla Willmansson's kind compassionate, loving and generous treatment that helps her escape the rat trap of the world.
