They breath through the nostrils, mouth and lungs. Lions have an upper and lower respiratory track. The upper respiratory track is outside the chest cavity, and the lower respiratory tract, which contains gas-exchanging pulmonary tissues, is inside the chest cavity. Their nose is helpful in respiration.
