Descriptive Type Questions :

1. How will you make modifications in cell contents using Edit mode ?

Ans. Select a cell. Double-click the cell (or) Press F2 .The Edit mode is displayed in the Status bar and the insertion point blinks inside the cell. Now you can use the Arrow keys to move inside and edit the contents of the cell. Once done , press the enter key to save changes.

2. Explain the method to insert multiple columns in a worksheet.

Ans. To insert multiple adjacent columns in a worksheet , select the same number of columns that you want to insert and click on Insert option in the Cells group on the Home tab.

To insert multiple non-adjacent columns in a worksheet , select the non-adjacent columns holding the Ctrl Key and click on Insert option in the Cells group on the Home tab.

3. How will you select a range and non-adjacent cells in a worksheet ?

Ans. To select a range of cells , click and drag the mouse pointer ( white cross symbol ) from the cell on the top-left corner to the bottom-right corner of the range . To select non-adjacent cells , press Ctrl key while selecting .

4. What is Auto Fill ? How can it be applied ?

Ans. Autofill is the easiest method to fill the data in cells automatically by copying the contents of the first cell or by creating a series of data to be filled.

Follow the given steps to apply Autofill :

Type the data in the cell . Position the pointer in the lower-right corner of the cell . The pointer changes to a thin black cross symbol. Click and drag the pointer to the required number of cells and select and option in Autofill options icon.

5. Explain the two methods for copying data.

Ans. Method 1 :

Select the cells to be copied . Click on the Copy option in the Clipboard group on Home tab. A moving dashed line will appear. Go the the destination cell and click on the Paste option.

Method 2 :

Select the cells to be copied . Press Ctrl + C. A moving dashed line will appear. Go the the destination cell and press Ctrl + V.To remove the border after you finish copying , press Escape key.
