At a young age Salim Ali lost his parents and was taken in by his uncle. As a gift, his uncle bought him an expensive air rifle. Salim enjoyed shooting at sparrows, but one day he shot a sparrow which he later realized had a yellow throat. He asked his uncle why the sparrow had a yellow throat, hisuncle was clueless so hey went searching for an answer. They soon learned that it was infact a Yellow Throated sparrow. From that moment on he knew he wanted to know about evry type of bird out there. Inhis adulthood he became an Ornithologist.
