Solution:

First Method:

Given Speed = 85 km/hr

This means that, the car travels 85 km in 1 hour.

Now the question asks us to find the speed in meters per second.

So, 85 km is equal to 85,000 m and 1 hour is equal to 3600 seconds.

Hence the speed of car in meters per second is 85000 / 3600 which is 23.61 meters per second.

Alternative Method:

A simple shortcut to solve all these problems is to use direct formula. If you wish to conceptually solve, then the first method is apt.

Second method:

Direct Formula : 1 km/hr = 5/18 m/s

Hence, 85 km/hr would be 85 × 5/18 which is 425/18 which is 23.61 m/s

Hence the car travelled 23.61 m/s

Solutions :-

Given :
The speed of a moving a car is 85 km per hour.

We know that,
1 km = 1000 m
By unitary method,
85 km = 85 × 1000 = 85000 m

1 hr = 60 minutes
By unitary method,
1 minute = 60 seconds
1 second = (60 × 60) = 3600 seconds

Find the speed of moving car in m/sec :-

Time = 3600 seconds
Distance covered in one hr or 3600 seconds = 85000 m
Speed of moving car = Distance / Time
= 85000/3600 m/sec
= 23.61 m/sec (approx.)

Hence,
Speed of the moving car in m/sec is 23.61 m/sec.
