To draw:

Diagram of plant cell and animal cell.

Solution:

First of all, let's learn a few characteristics of animal and plant cells:

Plant cell:

  • Plant cells are the structural and functional units of plants.

  • They have a definite cell wall and cell membrane.

  • They have a cytoplasm enclosed by the cell envelope (cell wall + cell membrane).

  • The cytoplasm consists of various membrane bound, well-defined cell organelles.

  • Examples of such organelles are mitochondria, ribosomes, plastids, nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum, etc.

  • The nucleus is also well defined and consist of nucleolus and chromatin network.

Animal cell:

  • Animal cells are the structural and functional unit of animals.

  • These cells don't have a cell wall.

  • Instead, they only have cell membrane as their covering around the cytoplasm.

  • The cytoplasm consists of cell organelle is like mitochondria, nucleus, centriole ribosomes, endoplasmic reticulum, etc.

  • They don't have plastids.

  • The nucleus is also well defined, consist of nucleolus and chromatin reticulum.

Refer to the attached images to understand the cellular structure of animals and plants.
