Summary of My Native Land

• In the poem 'My native land' the poet is accompanied by a Blind, Old man who, out of desperation and love for his land wishes to have a mental picture of how his land looks like. The poet asks the old man to take a deep breath to feel the warmth of the land. This can be understood by the verse " Breathe, Koka, I said, breathe deep! ; Is what your land is like".  
• Further, the poet adds that the gurgling sound of a baby in its mother's back is what actually the land is made of. To describe the motherly nature of the land he cites the example of harmonious sounds uttered by the Cuckoos and the sparrows.  
• To explain the religious fraternity the poet describes the prayer chants, from mosques, churches and temples is what makes the soul of the old man's land.
