• Mixed farming is the type of farming in which both growing of crops and raising of livestock are involved.

Advantages of tilling of soil are :-

• It helps in loosing and turning off the soil as a result, the nutrient- rich soil is distributed evenly and also improves aeration.
• It helps in the improvement of the water retention ability of soil in the form of Capillary water
• It uproots weeds and unwanted herbs.
• Loose soil has a lot of air trapped in it, which is used by the roots to breathe easily.
• It also helps in the growth of earthworms and microbes in the soil, which provides nutrients to the soil and aid in further loosening of the soil.

we know before sowing good quality, clean and healthy seeds of a good variety are selected.

Farmers select the healthy seeds from a mixture of seeds by soaking them in water. After sometime the damaged seeds on being lighter (as they are hollow inside),floats on water. And the healthy seeds remain under water.

This is a good method for separating good and Healthy seeds.
