Textile fibers are generally classified as natural textile fibers and man-made fibers. As man advanced in textile technology he has discovered a variety of man-made as well as natural fibers which have been a boon to designers looking for different characteristics in the textiles they use to design their creations with.

There are two types of fibre. And they are :

Synthetic fibre -

  • Synthetic fibre is the type of fibre that is made by human beings.
  • The other name for synthetic fibre is man-made fibre.
  • Examples of Synthetic fibre are :: Rayon, Nylon, Polyester and Acrylic etc.

Natural fibre -

  • Natural fibres is the type of fibre that is made by natural sources.
  • It is obtained from animals and plants.
  • Examples of Natural fibres are :: Silk, Cotton, Jute.

There are two types of Plastics. And they are :

Thermoplastic -

  • Those types of plastics which can be bent or twisted easily after heating is known as Thermoplastic.
  • Examples : Some examples of thermoplastic are Polythene and PVC.

Thermosetting plastic -

  • Those types of plastics which cannot be bent or twisted easily after heating and cannot be molded after it is molded after the first time are known as Thermosetting plastic.
  • Examples : Some examples of Thermosetting plastic are Melamine and Bakelite.
