25the December Its Christmas today, but the town looks deserted. The war has been ended recently. Many have lost their sons or husbands. The war has ruined the life completely. People are running short of basic amenities of life. Somewhere, some functions have been arranged to pay tributes to the departed soldiers. People appeared to be normal but it will take time to overcome the loss of war. Or 12 Dorset Dear Jenny Last weak I bought a roll-top desk from a junk shop. In one of the drawers there was a sello-taped box. When I opened it, I found a letter in it addressed to Coonie. Actually some Mr. Macpherson, a captain in the British army had written it for his wife. I wanted to hand over the letter to her. I want to the address mentioned in it. There I came to know that Mrs. Macpherson was not in good order of mind. As she saw me, addressed her as Coonie. It created all confusion. She took me as her husband. She became very excited. 1 was at a fix and did not want to disclose my real identity. I thought not to disturb her joy. She should be happy. I stayed there. The matron said that my presence was the best present for her on the Christmas Eve. God may bless her. Your Jim

Answer:

25 December, 1919

It's Christmas today, but the town looks very much different from what I had imagined. It has been ravaged by war. Buildings are in ruins and there is graveyard silence. My own house burnt when it was hit by a bombardment. The events of war have taken a toll of civilians as well as soldiers. I hate the fighting instinct in us and curse the war makers (monger). Can't we live in peace like brothers?
