Madagascar is south west of India at 20 degree south latitude. If there is a high pressure area to the east side of Madagascar, it encourages the winds to move even faster toward the low pressure zone over the Indian subcontinent.
Because of low pressure due to heating of Tibetan plateau (the winds also gets heated, so it rises up, similar to land breeze and sea breeze) it also encourages the Arabian trade winds to bring moisture with them and cause rainfall.
