Subsistence Crisis is a severe circumstance where the fundamental normals of livelihood are threatened. The need for foodgrains heightened as the community improved in France from 23 million to 28 million. The generation of cereals could not maintain stride with the need.
The Factors Responsible for this Type of Crises were:
- The community of France rise from about 23 million in 1715 to 28 million in 1789. This directed to an abrupt improvement in the need for nutrition cereals. The generation of cereals could not maintain stride with the need. So the rate of bread which was the essential sustenance of the plurality rise quickly. Most labourers were employed as labourers in workshops whose landlord stabilized their salaries. But salaries did not maintain stride with the increase in rates. So, the void between the poor and the rich expanded.
- Things became terrible whenever depletion or haul lessened the production. This directed to a subsistence crisis.
