Explanation:

  1. Packing • End of Packing: Finally the packing ended late at night (12.50 am). The three friends were very tired and decided to sleep. Before sleeping, they had an argument about when to wake up in the morning.
  2. the time was 6:30
  3. The thing that irritated the Jerome to a great extent was that when he was doing all the packing at that very point of time Jerome got irritated as he was doing all the packing and his friend was just sitting and relaxing. Thus, this moment was irritating for the Jerome.
  4. When Jerome had offered to pack. his real intention was to boss the job. He wanted to make Harris and George work under his directions, and to push them a Side every now and then to teach them how to pack properly.
  5. First, he had 'forgotten to pack his boots' and then could not remember if he had 'packed his toothbrush or not'. Jerome stated that 'packing his toothbrush' drives him to a 'point of madness' since he either packs it even before he brushes his teeth or he does not pack it at all.
  6. The entire novel is replete with humour. The packing scene is no exception. The author's description of the bag packing scene is quite humorous. As Harris, George and he are about to begin packing, he volunteers the packing himself. What he had meant was superintending while Harris and George did the actual packing. However he did the packing with great difficulty. He finished it at 10:05. He had hardly finished packing when he was reminded to pack his boots too. He  again had to open up the bag to pack his boots. As he repacked, he was doubtful whether he had packed his tooth brush or not. In order to check, he again unpacked the bag; he could not find his toothbrush though he shook each and every article packed. The tooth brush was ultimately found in the boots. Now he again set to fold all the clothes and pack them again. This packing scene really is quite amusing.

Jerome had to reopen the packed bag twice because of his forgetfulness. Once he had to reopen the bag as he had forgotten to pack the boots.

8.

George and Harris created such a mess by packing heavy things on soft ones. They started it by keeping the jam on the tomatoes and smashing it. Then they had to take them out with a teaspoon.

9.Montmorency is a fox terrier, the “dog” in the title. His role in the packing process was to interfere. J., the narrator of the book, first packed all of the clothing and equipment into a large Gladstone suitcase. Then George and Harris packed all of the food and utensils into hampers.
