This is a real incident of a teenager Zan Gaudioso. The narrator in this story is a teenager who finds it difficult to make new friends and adjust to a new place. He feels lonely and expressed. After junior high school, the narrator joined the high school. He felt at a loss and lonely among new teachers and students. He missed his old school and old friends.
One day his house caught fire. The whole house was burnt .Nothing was left he lost his cat also. The narrator went to his grandparent’s house with his mother. Next day, the narrator had to go to school wearing the previous day’s dress and borrowed shoes. He had lost everything in the fire. He felt embarrassed .The news of fire soon spread in the school. Everyone felt concern for the narrator they wanted to help him. They gave him all kinds of clothes, books and school supplies. Their selfless love and concern touched his heart .Soon he had many friends.
The narrator still missed his pet cat. It was missing. After months when he and his friends watching his house rebuilt, a lady came with his cat. She brought happiness back to the narrator. Now the feeling of loss and tragedy had gone. He was grateful to life, his new friends and the kind lady. He regained interest in life

The story begins with the narrator entering the high school where he feels very strange and isolated as he has got separated from his friends. Then, the narrator expresses that he missed his old school so much that he used to go back there and meet his old teachers with whom he shared a special bond. They encouraged him to adjust to the new surroundings and take part in activities in a new school and meet new people and soon he will get along with the new environment.
Then, the author describes a Sunday afternoon when he was doing his homework when his house caught fire and smoke reached the ceiling. The struggle that the narrator and his mother face to save the important documents and letters of her husband from that smoking fire.
After five hours, the fire was put out but the entire house was burnt down completely and he lost his cat also which caused great emotional pain to him and his mother. They moved to their grandparents' house but he felt like dying. The Next day, he went to his school in a very miserable condition and while coming back he sees his home, everything destroyed and he feels immense pain in his heart for his dear cat.
However, this pain caused by fire brought a new phase in his life as he makes new friends who sympathize with him, gives him a surprise by providing things like clothes, books, sweatsuits, books which he lost in the fire. It brought great relief as he again got people with whom he could share his joys and sorrows. His life was back on track and a woman brings back his cat who ran during the fire. Immediately, his sad and sorrowful feelings and vanished and he again became happy.
The key idea is that life is all about challenges and we need to face them with faith and strength.
