Answer:

1. From a rifle of mass 4 kg, a bullet of mass 50 g is fired with an initial velocity of 35 m/s. Calculate the initial recoil velocity of the rifle.

Ans. (m1) Mass of rifle = 4 kg

(m2) Mass of bullet = 50 g = 0.05 kg

(v2) Velocity of bullet = 35 m/s

(v1) Recoil velocity of rifle = ?

According to the law of conservation of momentum

Momentum of rifle = momentum of bullet

2. A truck starts from rest and rolls down a hill with a constant acceleration. It travels a distance of 400 m in 20 s. Find its acceleration. Find the force acting on it if its mass is 7 tonnes (Hint : 1 tonne = 1000 kg).

Ans. u = 0 m/s m = 7 tonnes

s = 400 m = 7 x 1000 kg

t = 20 s = 7000 kg

a = ?

F = ?
