Answer Fluorine and chlorine react with ozone and convert ozone gas into oxygen gas and a single fluorine or chlorine molecule can destroy thousands of ozone molecules. Hence, the Ozone layer is getting depleted because of excessive use of man-made compounds containing both chlorine and fluorine.
