3 gm of carbon required =8gm of oxygen.
so, 10 gm of carbon required =10×8 gm of oxygen.
therefore 10 gm of carbon required 80gm of O2

carbon:oxygen

=3:8

which means 3 grams of carbon combines with 8 grams of O₂.

so 10 grams of C combines with x grams of O₂.

∴3/8=10/x

⇒x=8*10/3

⇒x=80/3

⇒x=26.66 grams
