Factor the

4 {x}^{2} (3x + 1) - 3x - 1

first two terms:

Notice that we can factor out the negative - from the last two terms:

4 {x}^{2} (3x + 1) - (3x + 1)

This means we can factor this by grouping. The factoring is already done, so we are left with:

(3x -+ 1)( {4x}^{2} - 1)

You can double-check this by expanding it again using the FOIL method:

12x³+23x²-4x-15
