class IX
1. Take a ruler or a measuring tape and stopwatch.
2. Put a mark on the floor. This is the starting point of the motion. Label this as point A
3. Now starts from the point A and moves in the straight line for few seconds ( let's say 10 seconds) in your home. Mark the point on the floor with marker and call it B. Switch ON the stop watch when you starts moving and switch it OFF when you stop. This give you the time taken to cover the distance.
4. Now measure the length AB with the measuring tape. The AB length is the distance.
5. Now divide distance/time to calculate the speed. Now convert this value into km/h and miles/hr
On the basis of the activity, you have to answer the following questions:
1. Calculate the ratio of your speed to the speed of cycle, car, train and aeroplane.(check internet for the speed of these objects)
2. Suppose you have to travel from Delhi to Leh which is approximately 1000 km from New Delhi, how much time will it take to reach Leh if you go by.
1. Foot
2. Car
3. Train
4. Aeroplane.
If you continue to move with the same walking speed, how much distance will you cover in one year from your home? ( 365 Days) Assuming that you walk for 6 hours each day.
Note: take care of conversion of the units.
