  2. All the living organism perform life maintaining process is called as a life process. It is the sequence of mechanisms for survival of organisms. There are 7 essential life processes such as reproduction, nutrition, movement, growth, excretion, respiration and sensitivity.
  3. A cross between two types of plants of same species considering only the transmission of one character is called monohybrid cross. For example, a cross between tall pea plants and dwarf pea plant that is considering only the height of the parents is a monohybrid cross. It will result in the formation of tall offsprings but they will be hybrid.
  4. Representation of the monohybrid cross: character in focus is the height
  5. Parents- TT X tt
  6. The steps are as follows:-
  7. 1) Ingestion: The process of taking food into the body is called ingestion. 2) Digestion: the process in which the food containing large, insoluble molecules is broken down into small, water soluble molecules is called digestion. 3) Absorption: The process in which the digested food passes through the intestinal wall into blood stream is called absorption. 4) Assimilation: The process in which the absorbed food is taken in by the body cells and used for energy, growth and repair is called assimilation. 5) Egestion: The process in which the undigested food is removed from the body is called egestion.
  8. Oxygen and carbon dioxide in human beings are transported in various ways. The majority of oxygen, that is 97%, is transported as oxyhaemoglobin, a combined state of oxygen and haemolgoin.
  9. The remaining oxygen is present in the form of dissolved oxygen in blood plasma. The majority of carbon dioxide, that is about 70%, is transported in the form of bicarbonate in the blood plasma.
  10. This bicarbonate is involved in maintaining the pH of the blood. About 23% of carbon dioxide is transported in the form of carbminohaemoglobin, a combined state of carbon dioxide and haemoglobin. The remaining 7% is present in the form of dissolved carbon dioxide in plasma.
