Answers
Q1 : Write the properties of cotton.
Ans : Cotton Fibers are natural hollow fibers, they are soft, cool, known as breathable fibers and absorbent. Cotton fibers can hold water 24-27 times their own weight. They are strong, dye absorbent and can stand up against abrasion wear and high temperature.
Q2 : Write the properties of synthetic fibre.
Ans : Synthetic Fibres are flexible,elastic/stiff and strong. They can have high or low water absorbancy. Compared to natural fibers, synthetic fibers are usually more water, stain, heat and chemical resistant.
Q3 : Why did Ria suggest Shalini to wear cotton cloth?
Ans : As told in the question, it was the month of June, hence, it was summer season. We sweat more in the summer session. Cotton is a strong water absorber helps to absorb the sweat and introduce to the environment of evaporation. Our body takes out heat as the sweat evaporates from our body.
Q4 : Clothes can also made from material other than plant fibres. Can you name them?
Ans : Clothes are made from many materials, with four main sources: animal (wool, silk), plant (cotton, flax, jute, bamboo), mineral (asbestos, glass fibre), and synthetic (nylon, polyester, acrylic, rayon). The first three are natural.
