here is the meaning
the poet hears the slow steps of his grandma in his imagination and he can only imagine but can never see her in a physical state.

it means that the house is very old and needs repair but no one is there to repair it and grandma has also passed away.

the speaker remembers the love and cares for her grandchildren. she provided cool fragile drinks and keep the house cool with water downed khus curtain

it means in his imagination no thing has changed. he remembers every detail of the house. but in reality, a good deal has changed. the plaster is falling the khus curtains are down and the house is vacant and it will soon collapse, most importantly grandma has passed away

it means the poet has spent a lot of time in the house, knows every part of it intimately {close} and in detail, even when it is empty, he seems to know the house very well.
