Answer
'A tiger in the Zoo' poem talks about how a tiger feels when he is kept in a cage in a zoo. The tiger who should be lurking in the shadows in tall grasses of the forest, hunting for plump deer is trapped in a cage where he stalks with his velvet pads. The poem talks about the exploitation done in zoo, as he is deprived to do anything he wants. Exploitation of animals is a huge issue, many people capture animals and kept them in zoo just for show, which is wrong. They also hunt animals for valuable, like elephants are hint for ivory. Animals also have right to live and enjoy freedom living in their natural habitat. However, not all zoo exploit animals. Some times zoos are necessary to protect endangered animals from illegal hunting and poachers. But they should not be kept as caged animals either. Animals should be treated fairly because they are as important as us and we have to share earth with them.
The animals now days are not able to live in their natural environment that is in jungle or forests. The animals are either hunted for captured keep in zoo aur entertain people in the circus. This is how animals are exploited.
The exploitation of animals is really against humanity. The animals should also have right to live on their own alone in the forest. They should also have freedom.
In the poem written by Leslie Norris, A TIGER IN THE ZOO, the poet has beautifully described how a tiger on the zoo have a very contrasting life with the tiger in the natural habitat.
He has described how tiger lives in the forest. It attacks another animal for food, slides through the long grass and hide in the shadow. It also snarls around the houses near the jungles edge showing his white fangs and his claws. It scares
the people living in the village.
The poet says this is how the tiger is supposed to live. On contrary, the poet describes how the animals are exploited. The tiger is locked in a small cage, from where he could not move anywhere. It have to control it's anger and be quiet. It stares the stars in the night symbolising the search of freedom.
CONCLUSION :- The animals should not be treated in this manner and be able to live freely.
